HC reverses ban on ‘dangerous’ category of dogs
BENGALURU, April 10: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday overturned a directive issued by the Centre regarding the ban on the import, breeding, and sale of specific breeds of dogs labeled as dangerous by an expert committee under the Animal Husbandry Ministry. The court highlighted the importance of consulting pet owners and relevant organisations before implementing such bans stressing on their responsibility in case their pets cause harm and incur expenses. India secures key posts in UN bodies
NEW DELHI, April 10: India has won a major victory with the country’s candidates being elected to several key positions in UN bodies including a prestigious five-year term at the International Narcotics Control Board. India’s Jagjit Pavadia, a former IRS officer, was re-elected for a third term to the International Narcotics Control Board. India was also elected by acclamation to the Commission on the Status of Women; Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund; Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Population Fund and the United Nations Office for Project Services. Woman held on charges of filicide
Alibaug, April 10: A 25-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly smothering her two children as they were an obstacle in her plan to marry her paramour in Raigad district of Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday. The local crime branch had launched an investigation after a girl, aged 5 years, and a boy (3) were found dead under mysterious circumstances last month. “The children were found unconscious in Kihim village on March 31. They were rushed to the Alibaug Civil Hospital where they were declared dead,” as per a release issued by Raigad Police. (PTI)
