U-15 Boys Inter-Cluster Cricket

Shillong, April 20: In the first match of the Benjamin Diengdoh Memorial U-15 Boys Inter Cluster Cricket Tournament 2024, Mawsynram Cluster faced off against Mawryngkneng Cluster. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Mawsynram Cluster set a competitive total of 144/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Shanskhem Dohling led the scoring with 21 runs off 36 deliveries, while Damewanbiang Shadap impressed with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs.
In response, Mawryngkneng Cluster struggled to chase down the target and managed to score only 104/9 in their 20 overs. Hamebandap War top-scored with a valiant 55 runs off 51 balls, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory. Nangsan Kynter was the pick of the bowlers for Mawsynram Cluster, taking 2 wickets for just 10 runs in 3 overs. Ultimately, Mawsynram Cluster emerged victorious by 40 runs, with Jentizen Marpna being awarded the Man of the Match title for his impactful performance.
In the second match of the tournament, Sohra Cluster (A) locked horns with STCC Pongtung Cluster. Opting to field first after winning the toss, Sohra Cluster (A) showcased a dominant bowling display, restricting STCC Pongtung Cluster to a mere 18 runs all out in 8.2 overs. Mewanshailang Kharmawlong top-scored with just 5 runs off 5 balls, while Othaniel Lyngdoh Nonglait wreaked havoc with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 4 runs in 2 overs.
Chasing the target, Sohra Cluster (A) cruised to victory in just 2.3 overs without losing a wicket, scoring 19 runs. Samborlang Lyngdoh led the charge with an unbeaten 8 runs off 9 deliveries. Sohra Cluster (A) sealed the win by 10 wickets, with Othaniel Lyngdoh Nonglait being named the Man of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance.
The tournament was inaugurated by Aaron G Diengdoh, brother of the late Benjamin Diengdoh, in the presence of District Association Officials, marking the beginning of an exciting cricketing spectacle for young talents in the region.
