TURA, April 23: In a major development, South Garo Hills police on Monday arrested the remaining accused involved in the string of kidnappings and abductions, which had taken place over the last few months in the district.
According to police, based on reliable source information, the final accused and the mastermind in the kidnapping incidents Rongsrang M Sangma (29) of Gittinggre village under Baghmara PS was arrested from Rapdikgre village under Willaimanagar in East Garo Hills.
Other accused who were arrested earlier include Wilban M Sangma, Withmil S Marak and Sengsrang Ch Marak, all from South Garo Hills, and Tengsrang Ch Marak and Chongpong M Sangma from West Garo Hills.
Police informed that Rongsrang, who was part of the GNLA (R), had executed kidnappings and extortions from South Garo Hills district on behalf of the outfit.
