Five major fire incidents in city

SHILLONG, April 25: Shillong on Thursday witnessed 5 to 6 major fires including forest fires in Laban and other areas close to Laitkor peak range.
Inspector General of Police (R/PR/F&ES), Francis G Kharshiing, revealed that it was a challenging day for them but somehow they have managed to pacify the situation.
He said that strong winds and dry weather accounted for the fire incidents.
One of the major fire incidents was reported from Cleve Colony but the situation was brought under control.
