NONGPOH, May 2: The Soil and Water Conservation department on Thursday honoured the achievements of 16 trainees from the 36th Batch Middle-Level Technician Training Programme and the 50th Batch Field Assistant, during a passing-out ceremony at the Conservation Training Institute, Byrnihat.
In the 36th Batch Middle-Level Technician Training Programme, a total of ten trainees were nominated for five-month training courses. These included six trainees from the Soil & Water Conservation Division of various districts of Meghalaya, two trainees from Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), and two trainees from Soil & Water Conservation, Arunachal Pradesh.
Out of the ten trainees, eight of them have successfully completed the courses while two trainees could not complete due to health issues.
In the 50th Batch Field Assistant Training Course, ten trainees were nominated, including three from Soil & Water Conservation department of Assam, three from Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Department of Forest, and two from Soil and Water Conservation department, Meghalaya.
Similarly, in the 36th Batch Middle-Level Technician Training Programme, eight out of ten trainees successfully fulfilled the requirements, showcasing their commitment to their training. However, two trainees could not fulfill the requirements of the institute.
Commissioner & Secretary, Soil & Water Conservation department, Dr. Joram Beda, who was part of the programme, highlighted the contributions of the trainees to their respective departments and to the state at large.
Beda commended the trainees for their hard work and emphasised the importance of utilising their skills and knowledge for the betterment of conservation efforts, while stressing the significance of a sustainable future.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to all successful trainees, along with trophies to recognise the top performers in various subjects and outstanding achievements in sports.
