SHILLONG, May 6: The NEHU Teachers’ Association will organise a protest on Tuesday against the University administration’s adamant attitude in resolving the long-pending issues raised by the association.
A protest march will be held from the NEHU Central Library to the Vice Chancellor’s office.
In a statement issued on Monday, NEHUTA president Lakhon Kma said members will assemble in front of the Library building at 2 pm on Tuesday after which they will march towards the VC’s office in protest.
Kma said some of the pending issues which are yet to be resolved include arbitrary appointment/reappointment of Deans of various schools violating the NEHU Statute and the established practice of appointment of Deans by rotation according to seniority, long-pending CAS cases for all stages including from Stage 5 to 6 (senior professor) and opening of envelopes concerning correction of date of promotion of faculty members.
“We must be united to fight this administration which has failed in every front in the last three years,” he said.
