SHILLONG, May 7: After a man, who was found in an unconscious state in Kurikhal village, was declared brought dead at Ichamati CHC, Meghalaya Police have approached the Border Security Force (BSF) asking them to get in touch with their Bangladesh counterpart, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), to unearth further details of the case.
Police have issued a notice asking relatives of the deceased to claim the body which has been kept at NEIGRIHMS.
Police said the person was found near the Indo-Bangla border and it is suspected that he may be a citizen of Bangladesh. The BSF has been asked to contact the BGB to find out if the person hails from Bangladesh.
Since the post-mortem examination was not conducted till the filing of this report, the cause of the death could not be ascertained.
Police have, however, ruled out any connection between the latest case and the recent incident in Ichamati where two persons were killed during an anti-CAA protest.
