TURA, May 8: The vibrant atmosphere of athletic competition fills the air as 730 students hailing from 30 diverse schools across Tura engage in the spirited two-day District level inter-school athletics meet.
The event kicked off on Wednesday amidst great enthusiasm at the Pa Togan Nengminja Track and Field Stadium, Dakopgre in Tura, orchestrated by the District Sports Office.
Jen Mueller P Marak, Deputy Controller of Examinations SSLC, MBOSE, graced the inaugural ceremony of the Athletics Meet as the esteemed Chief Guest. In a gesture of acknowledgment, Marak felicitated the triumphant participants of the simultaneous events conducted on the first leg of the day.
Addressing the gathering during the felicitation, Jen Mueller P Marak extended hearty congratulations to the victors across various competitions for their dynamic involvement.
Additionally, he advocated for a daily regimen of practice among all athletes, emphasizing the importance of bringing accolades not only to their respective schools but also to themselves.
Marak further underscored the significance of discipline among athletes and encouraged the nurturing of emerging talents to flourish in their chosen sports or activities.
Meanwhile, Saljagring M Marak, the District Sports Officer of Tura, highlighted the diverse array of track and field events tailored for different age categories, including under 14, 16, and 18, for both boys and girls.
Marak delineated the comprehensive roster of events encompassing distances ranging from 60 meters to 1500 meters, alongside high jump, long jump, discus throw, shot put, javelin throw, medley relay, and kids javelin, among others, that animated the proceedings of the event.
As the coveted event progresses, it serves as a testament to the unyielding spirit of sportsmanship and excellence, setting the stage for a promising future generation of athletes in Tura and beyond.
