BSF nabs duo with Bangladeshi taka

SHILLONG, May 10: The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Thursday apprehended two Indian nationals with Bangladeshi taka along the international border in East Khasi Hills district.
According to a statement here, the currency, which was confiscated during an operation near the area of Nayabazar border outpost, has been valued at 3,40,000 taka.
“During the operation, BSF troops noticed suspicious movement of two Indian nationals along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Upon conducting a search, BSF recovered a bag containing 3,40,000 Bangladeshi Taka in denomination of 500 and thereafter apprehended both,” the statement said.
During the preliminary questioning, the apprehended persons revealed their identities as Balanus Mawroh, a resident of Nongjri Wahsier village, and Enterness Khongsni, a resident of Nongjritluh village.
Meanwhile, according to the BSF, the seized currency was meant for cross-border illegal activities.
“The apprehended persons and the seized currency were handed over to Pynursla Police Station for further legal action,” the statement said.
