NEW DELHI, May 12: Cabinet Minister and BJP national executive committee member, Alexander Laloo Hek on Sunday urged the party workers to visit every nook and corner of the national capital and reach out to the voters, especially those from the Northeast, to persuade them to vote for the party in the Lok Sabha polls slated on May 25.
Hek also requested the Bengalee voters residing in New Delhi to vote for the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls.
The meeting styled “Meet & Greet” people of the Northeast and West Bengal working in Delhi was organised by the party at the BJP headquarters here.
Hek spoke about how the entire Northeast including Meghalaya has undergone a transformation for the better in the ten years of BJP rule under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Modiji himself visited the region more times than any other Prime Minister and ensured that Union ministers tour and review the development of the states not just in state capitals, but even in district and sub-divisional headquarters,” he said.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his speech mentioned that it is because of Modi’s tireless efforts that the entire NE region has become “Congress Mukt.”
Even for people of the Northeast residing in New Delhi, several safety measures have been taken for which they no longer feel like aliens in the capital, Sarma said.
Besides Hek and Sharma, several leaders of the party like Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar, party MP from Darjeeling Raju Bista and MPs from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland addressed the gathering.
