SHILLONG, May 18: With rains finally lashing Shillong and other parts of the state, many of the roads in the capital city have already started showing signs of degradation.
Despite being in the initial stage, the recent rains in the city have already started creating potholes on different roads passing through the city.
Be it the Bivar road or the road at Lachumiere, they have already started showing signs of wear and tear.
It may be mentioned that the deterioration of roads during the rainy season is not a new thing in Meghalaya, and the state government does not even have the technology to repair roads during the monsoon period.
It is usually seen that by the time the rain finally subsides, many roads in the city are left with massive potholes.
It would also be interesting to see if the newly built roads in the city can bear the onslaught of heavy rain lasting for months or if these roads give way to the rains.
