Tributes paid on Language Martyrs’ Day

SHILLONG, May 18: Tributes were paid at a programme organised by Bongiya Sahitya Parishad, Shillong, at its auditorium here on Sunday, to commemorate Language Martyrs’ Day.
A special lecture was delivered by noted historian and former Vice Chancellor of Assam University, Prof Jayanta Bhushan Bhattacharya on the occasion. He spoke about the history of mother tongue movement in the Northeast since 1960.
The programme was opened and concluded with befitting songs by Dipanjana Gupta.
