SHILLONG, May 27: Adonijah Lyngdoh has emerged victorious in the first season of Hills on a Plate – Meghalaya, a TV series produced by Meghalaya Tourism.
The TV series, which is now streaming on JioCinema, combines the excitement of a chef competition with an immersive journey through the culinary and cultural wonders of Meghalaya.
The winner of the first season of the TV series has been awarded Rs 10 lakh and a restaurant of his own, which is now under construction near Ward’s Lake in Shillong.
An elated Lyngdoh said, “Meghalaya does not have chefs that we can look up to yet. Through this show, I want to show to the youths through example that you can always reach your goal through perseverance and hard work. I hope to be a guiding light and an inspiration to others and I will always support and lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it.”
Meanwhile, the top-5 contestants were also awarded a grant of Rs 10 lakh each by Meghalaya Tourism so as to give them a boost in their culinary enterprises and ventures they have been planning.
The cheques were handed over to the contestants earlier this year by Dr Vijay Kumar D, Commissioner and Secretary, Meghalaya Tourism, at a public screening of the first episode of the Hills on a Plate here.
The show, which has captivated audiences nationwide, offers a unique blend of culinary artistry, cultural exploration, and heartwarming stories from Meghalaya.
Hosted by Gordon Thabah and Abigail Kaizun, Hills on a Plate – Meghalaya has brought together a diverse group of talented contestants, including Uttam Thangkhiew, Artet Kharsati, Ivan Suting, Nambie Marak, Tanisha Phanbuh and Daeihunki Suchiang.
Renowned chef Sarah Todd of MasterChef Australia, who brought her expertise and passion for Indian cuisine to the judging panel, raised the bar for the contestants and added a new dimension to the competition.
From concept to execution, the show was brought to life by agencies such as Rockski EMG, State of Mind Production, Quarion Cine Sicarius, The Hills People, and more.
