Activist files separate complaints against police officials in Tura
TURA, May 30: Social activist from Williamnagar Nilbath ch Marak has sought the transfer of Police Inspector from Tura Bitching N Marak for allegedly misbehaving with the public and harassing them for years. In his latest complaint to the Meghalaya DGP, Nilbath said that despite many complaints against the police official concerned authorities have not taken any steps to transfer him or take action. Earlier, Nilbath had complained to the Additional Chief Secretary seeking Bitching’s transfer. A separate complaint has also been filed by Nilbath to the Chief Election Commission of India against the Additional Chief Secretary for failing to act upon the complaint. Meanwhile, in a separate issue, another social activist Flaming B Marak has also filed a complaint against another police official-SI of Chokpot in South Garo Hills, D R Marak claiming that the official illegally registered a case against him under section 500 IPC without the order of the Magistrate. The complaint in the latter case was also filed to the DGP.
WGH residents want ‘illegal’ school management committee dissolved
TURA, May 30: Residents of Sikata village under Selsella Block in West Garo Hills have filed a complaint to the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner seeking that the approval order for the newly formed SMC of the Atimullah Memorial Secondary School be cancelled immediately. The residents sought the cancellation of the approval claiming that the said SMC was constituted secretly without holding the general meeting. According to the residents, minutes of a fake general meeting was submitted to the DSEO in Tura based on which, the SMC was approved by the authority in an order dated October 20, 2022. The residents accused one, Hafizur Rahman, as the main person who manufactured the documents and records submitted to the DSEO in order to have full control of the school and make it his own property. Those holding positions in the SMC as per the residents include, Kokilus Begum, Rahman’s wife as Headmaster cum member secretary, brother in law Habibul Mondol as Ex-officio member, elder sister Rashida Hoque as Nominated member, brother in law Moxadul Amin Mondal and Afikul Islam, an illiterate man as President.
