TURA, June 9: Villagers of Rongsu Agal in South Garo Hills have alleged complete negligence by their representatives towards the area.
Despite that Cabinet Minister Rakkam A Sangma and GHADC CEM Albinush Marak being from the village, the area is in such poor condition and development is far behind, the residents said.
The villagers pointed out that one of the main issues is bad roads and bridges due to which they are facing grave difficulties, especially during the rainy seasons.
Rongsu Agal village, about 36 Km from Siju Dobakkol, and the stretch of road from there to the village is in such a deplorable condition that the villagers claim it is only fit for wild animals.
“We are traversing this animal track daily on motorbikes and transporting our daily necessities. Despite a cabinet minister and GHADC CEM being from the area, it is surprising that we still face such problems. We have completely lost faith in our leaders,” the villagers said.
According to the villagers, not only roads and communications but other issues have also been ignored and any development is a far dream for the villagers.
Pointing out that Rakam A Sangma has been the education minister for six years now the villagers felt it was high time that he looked into the issues faced by the people of his constituency.
