SHILLONG, June 16: The Meghalaya Region Domestic Workers’ Movement, in collaboration with the National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM) and All Meghalaya Domestic Workers’ Union (AMDWU), on Sunday commemorated International Domestic Workers Day at St. Margaret’s School Auditorium, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.
The event, themed ‘Decent Work for Domestic Workers and their Access to Care’, featured addresses from several special guests.
During the programme, MSMHC State Coordinator Daleena Francis highlighted the essential services domestic workers provide to millions of households globally and emphasised their role as key pillars of the care economy.
She stressed the need for better care and understanding of domestic workers, who often come from vulnerable and marginalised groups.
It may be mentioned that the programme was attended by 450 members of the Meghalaya Domestic Workers Movement.
