Artistes perform during a programme to celebrate the foundation day of West Bengal,
at Shillong Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Some of the highlights of the programme, which was attended by Meghalaya Governor Phagu Chauhan, include traditional dance of West Bengal as well as recreations of Rabindranath Tagore’s works, viz. Meghamallar, From the Depth of Darkness, and Chandalika by artists from Geetanjali Dance Academy, Shillong. The programme was attended by senior officials of state and central governments, military and paramilitary forces, faculties and students from universities and schools as well as residents
of the state of West Bengal residing in Meghalaya.
