SHILLONG, June 21: The High Court of Meghalaya has permitted the National Highways Authority of India to file a status report on the repair work being undertaken on Jowai-Ratacherra section of National Highway 6.
The court permitted the respondents to carry out repairs and also gave the petitioner the liberty to mention the matter before the court in case if any exigency or emergency.
During the hearing, the respondent mentioned that due to heavy rains and the possibility of cyclonic storms in the months of June and July, the road condition will worsen and it might not be safe for motorists, pedestrians, passersby and the like.
The counsel appearing for NHAI submitted that he will ascertain the correct status of the road and in case of any repair work to be done, the same will be attended to.
