Police seize heroin in city; four arrested

SHILLONG, June 23: Cracking down on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of East Khasi Hills, in collaboration with the staff from Mawlai Police Station, apprehended four individuals in two separate operations and seized a large quantity of drugs from their possession.
In the first operation at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Mawiong, under Mawlai Police Station, two individuals were arrested viz., Ram Singh (29) and Vijay Singh (20).
Nine soap boxes containing heroin, weighing a total of 110.32 grams, two mobile phones and a scooty without a registration number were recovered and seized from their possession.
In this connection a case was registered at Mawlai Police Station, and investigation is under way.
In a separate operation on the same day, the ANTF East Khasi Hills apprehended two more individuals at Demthring, under Madanriting Police Station. They are Evanjelyne Thongni (30) and John Robert Kharmyndai (22)
From their possession, the ANTF team recovered a soap box containing suspected heroin, weighing 11.43 grams, two mobile phones and a scooty (ML 05 L 7620), all of which were seized.
Investigation into this case, registered at Madanriting Police Station, is also in progress.
