EKH inter-school athletic team felicitated for stellar performance

Shillong, July 7: A felicitation ceremony was organized to honor the East Khasi Hills District Inter School Athletic Team for their remarkable performance at the state level inter school athletic meet 2024. Held at S.A.I, STC, Shillong N.E.H.U Campus Mawkynroh from May 22 to 24, the event was orchestrated by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya.
Demonstrating exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship, the team emerged as the overall champions of the competition.
The team was meticulously selected through a coaching camp organized by the District Sports Office in collaboration with the East Khasi Hills District Athletics Association. Held at the 2nd Ground of Shillong Recreation Ground Trust, the camp saw participation from 76 students who had won Gold and Silver medals in the District Level Inter School Athletic Meet. Out of these, 63 students were chosen by the coaches to represent the East Khasi Hills District.
The team’s impressive haul included 12 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, and 3 Bronze Medals, earning them the title of champion team in the girls’ category and the overall champion team.The event was graced by the presence of Shri Ronnieson Wahlang, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, as the Chief Guest, and Shri John F Kharshiing, Working President of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, as the Guest of Honor.
