SHILLONG, July 7: The Delimitation Committee, entrusted by the KHADC to redraw the boundaries of the existing 29 constituencies under the council, will submit its report to the executive committee on Monday.
Chairman of the Delimitation Committee, Stralwell Kharsyiemlieh had earlier mentioned that the final report would be submitted by the end of this month.
KHADC Deputy CEM, PN Syiem told The Shillong Times on Sunday that the EC is likely to discuss the report of the committee on Tuesday.
According to him, the EC will table the report in the House if it is satisfied with the recommendations made by the committee.
“But if there is a need for some rectification then the EC will decide how to address it,” Syiem said.
Earlier, the UDP, which is the principal opposition party in the KHADC, had asked the NPP-led EC to provide the copy of the report of the delimitation committee as soon as they receive it.
KHADC opposition leader, Titosstarwell Chyne had said that the delimitation committee report will need the approval of the House before the EC can initiate the delimitation exercise to readjust the 29 constituencies.
The KHADC and JHADC polls were due in February this year but the terms of the Houses were extended by six months on February 2.
