Guwahati, July 11: The police on Wednesday night arrested KSU Nongthymmai Circle president, Eric Nongkynrih in connection with the alleged assault of the labourers during work permit checking.

KSU Nongthymmai Circle vice president, Richard Mawkhiew on Thursday condemned the police for arresting the KSU leader in the middle of the night as if they are some sort of militants.

He, however, said that the arrest of Nongkynrih would not act as a deterrent for the student’s body to check the migrant labourers who do not possess any document including the work permit.

Earlier, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that four cases have been registered in connection with the alleged assault on the labourers.
