Meghalaya Job Reservation Policy

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG, July 13: The state BJP’s consultative committee on job reservation policy will submit its recommendations to the expert committee by Monday.
Informing this on Saturday, state BJP vice president Bernard N Marak, who is also the convenor of the state BJP consultative committee, said, “We have received the opinions from different districts and we have finalised the draft. We will be sending it to the party president and he will be sending it to the expert committee.”
Bernard informed that the views and opinions were solicited from various districts and leaders, and most of them had already agreed to the recommendations of the party after discussions that were held during the course of this week.
The BJP vice president further informed that discussions on the recommendations and suggestions were also held during a meeting in Tura and a video conference in Shillong.
Earlier, Bernard had suggested that the status quo should be maintained on the job reservation policy.
“I personally feel it should not be touched as there is a balance between the three communities and 40 per cent reservation is necessary for the Garos,” Bernard had said.
