SHILLONG, July 15: The road to Shillong Viewpoint is often under strict surveillance by defence authorities, but soon, people will be able to visit via an alternative route.
The tender for constructing and blacktopping a 1.250-km alternative route to Shillong Viewpoint was recently floated. The state government plans to build this road at a cost of Rs 6.19 crore.
The tender includes metalling and blacktopping works, protection works, cross drainage works, pucca drain, earthwork in cutting and filling, and clearing jungle and cutting trees.
The construction is expected to be completed within 24 months from the final work order issue date.
