TURA, July 18: A Tura-based group called ACHIK has sought the conduct of a joint inquiry against the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) team in South Garo Hills, along with the office of the Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills.
In its appeal to the Deputy Commissioner, the organisation claimed that despite claims of work being completed on projects, there was no physical evidence on the ground. It urged that a date be fixed for the joint inquiry.
“We demand a thorough investigation involving departmental officials, police, NGOs, Nokmas, the media and village committee members of the JJM,” it said.
Meanwhile, the organisation has also raised concern over the non-completion of the Market Shed Project at Sibbari weekly market.
The project was reportedly taken up through the DRDA under the NEC Scheme. In its complaint to the DRDA Project Director, the organization sought that information be provided with regard to project sanction letter, project completion deadline, current status of the project, reasons for the delay (if any) and estimated completion date.
