Ropeway project work may start in October

SHILLONG, July 18: Construction work on the Shillong Ropeway project is likely to start by early October this year.
President Droupadi Murmu had laid the foundation stone for the Shillong Ropeway project on January 16 this year.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Thursday said the state government wants to have a world-class ropeway project and they are in the last leg of issuing a fresh corrigendum on the tender issued previously.
“The working season here begins only after the monsoon. The project should finally take off by early October,” Lyngdoh said.
The estimated cost of the project Rs 152.03 crore and it is expected to take two years to complete from the date of the commencement of construction work.
