City college opens Sanskrit Learning Centre

SHILLONG, July 20: In a bid to deepen the understanding of India’s rich cultural heritage, Women’s College, Shillong, inaugurated a Sanskrit Learning Centre on Friday.
The inaugural event was attended by eminent dignitaries such as Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya, Dr BDR Tiwari, who served as the chief guest, and Swami Hitakamanandaji Maharaj, secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Shillong, who was the guest of honour.
Ranajit Tiwari, North East National Coordinator of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, and Associate Professor Kumar Bhaskar Verma from the University of Sanskrit and Ancient Studies, Nalbari, Assam, also graced the occasion.
The dignitaries highlighted the significance of Sanskrit, describing it as a key to unlocking vast knowledge in philosophy, literature, history, and scientific concepts.
The centre marks a new chapter for Women’s College and aims to empower students and faculty to explore the depths of Sanskrit, fostering a deeper connection to India’s intellectual and spiritual traditions.
The event was also attended by Dr Rajesh Deb, Rector of the College, Dr Ranadeep Roy, Principal, Board Members of Education India Institutions, along with teachers and students of the college.
