Music Travel Love shares stage with local artistes at
Lariti centre, lives up to the hype

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG, July 20: Blending international acclaim with local charm, Music Travel Love, part of the renowned Canadian band The Moffatts, brought their world tour to Shillong, to Lariti Centre for Performing Arts and Culture. The twin brothers, Clint and Bob Moffatt, known for their unique rock/pop/country sound, chose the picturesque region of Sohra for their latest music video shoot, they revealed to The Shillong Times, following their energetic set, on Saturday.
However, they said, that the song is a secret.
Adding another feather in their cap in terms of global collaboration, Music Travel Love invited local musicians to share the stage with them. Performers Elina, Shane Lang, and Kyntiew captivated the audience with their renditions of popular songs, each bringing their unique flair to the performance. Elena charmed the crowd with Shania Twain’s You’re Still the One, while Shane Lang delivered an overwhelmingly cherished love song Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You, and Kyntiewlin impressed with Dolly Parton’s classics, and the crowd swayed to each of them.
The brothers have earlier collaborated with Kyntiewlin.
In addition to their collaborative performances, the local artists were given the opportunity to perform solo.
Next up, an Indian musician, Sheridan Brass, almost stole the show with his numbers such as Brett Young’s In Case You Didn’t Know and Lionel Richie’s Stuck on You.
The set list for the Moffatt brothers included timeless hits such as Sunshine, You Are My Sunshine, Heaven by Bryan Adams, and Every Breath You Take, which demanded the audience to leave their seats and put on their dancing shoes.
The concert was an experience for people across ages, as the duo expressed their love for the people of Shillong.
Conversing with The Shillong Times, the band shared their excitement about their ongoing tour in India, particularly their time in Shillong. “The Shillong crowd was very energetic, although very polite at the beginning. But then, after a couple of songs, they started to show their colours as the truest music fans,” they stated ecstatically.
Discussing their artistic journey, they emphasised, “We collaborate with all kinds of artists, and we are just grateful that we get to share what we do with them.” When asked if covering famous songs impacts their originality as singers, they responded, “As much as we are covering an artist, we are doing it the way they would do it, and it is a nice way to process for us. We started off doing original music, so we kind of started backward. Most people would start covering songs first, but we do it the other way. We do make original music and spent our years writing in Nashville.”
The tour in India concludes on the 23rd of this month and then they head to England for their next performance.
Reflecting on their first tour in India, which included a memorable show in Aizawl, Mizoram, they shared, “This Northeast tour is a memory that will last forever.”
Music Travel Love also revealed that they strive to release new music every month, ensuring their fans always have something to look forward to.
The atmosphere was electric, yet intimate, making it feel less like an international concert and more like a gathering of friends.
Clint and Bob’s journey to Shillong has been a long one — 25 years in the making, they noted, as they sang, I miss you like crazy. Their collaboration with Kyntiewlin had always hinted at a visit, and this concert was a dream fulfilled. Despite their global success and a YouTube following of over four million subscribers, the brothers remain grounded, attributing much of their success to the platform that has brought their music to millions.
The energetic evening, however, had a very soothing start as Swiss pianist Claude Diallo, put the audience on a trip with some of his brilliant numbers he performed on the piano.
He was scheduled to later perform in The Evening Club, alongside two young musicians from the state viz., 21-year-old drummer from Shillong named Sebastian Swer, Mewanki Rngad, and another local artist named Sarah Lee.
The evening also had the homegrown band Kindred Spirits perform some energetic numbers, while Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh, who was also present joined them in their last song, to the surprise of the audience.
