Key appointments included Donbok Khymdeit and Ploster Syiem as advisers, R Rang Kynsai Makdoh as president, Coming Marsing as vice president, Rudolf Born Makri as secretary, Biolking Tmung and Biestar Sylliang as joint secretaries, and R Brister Shadap as treasurer.
A diverse group of executive members was also elected. Discussions centered on the matrilineal clan lineage system, a cornerstone of Khasi society. The confederation’s Ri-Bhoi unit presented crucial data on matrilineal clans, with participation from approximately 34 clans. The meeting emphasised cultural traditions and the integration of the Karbi people into Khasi society.
The gathering aimed to strengthen ties with the broader ethnic Khasi community, including those in neighboring Northeastern states, the Barak Valley of Assam, and across the border into Bangladesh, reaffirming commitment to Khasi traditions and cultural preservation.
