Assam man held with contraband items in EJH

JOWAI, July 31: A resident from Karimnganj, Assam, was apprehended by East Jaintia Police for allegedly peddling drugs.
After receiving a tip-off, a police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime) Bidhan Bhattacharjee, set up a naka at Umtyra village in East Jaintia Hills, following which a night super bus was intercepted.
Subsequently, contraband items were recovered from the possession of one passenger, viz. Abul Kashim Md Abbas.
The contraband items, weighing approximately 290 grams, were subsequently seized, and the accused was taken to Khliehriat Police Station for investigation.
