Govt rechristens roads, localities & buildings

SHILLONG, Aug 2: The state government has renamed several localities, roads and buildings in Meghalaya.
As per a government notification, approach road from NH-217 to Baghmara Bong Market has been renamed as Capt. Williamson A. Sangma Road while road from Mawkdok to the Office of the Syiem of Hima Sohra via Motor Station Iewbah Sohra was renamed as U Syiem Duwansing Syiem Road.
Similarly, Road from Sohra (Gate) Nongsawlia via Saitsophen to Mawsmai Road has been renamed as V Thomas Jones Road, while PWD Road from near Bajengdoba School up to the residence of the Martyr Ullum R Marak has been renamed as Ullum R Marak road.  Meanwhile, the road from Mawkhar Community Hall to Jaiaw Langsning Community Hall will now be known as Doctor Hugh Gordon Roberts Road, while Holy Cross Hospital Road has been renamed as Bishop George Mamalassery Road.
The road from the Office of the West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police leading to Police Reserve, Tura, has been renamed as Rei Deo Sangma Road.
Meanwhile, the Raitong Building has been renamed as Lurn Shyllong Building while the GNM School of Nursing Nongpoh has been renamed as GNM School of Nursing Paharnsyiern, Nongpoh.
Lastly, Lumbatngen (Law-u-Sib) has been renamed as Lumbatngen.
