Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital staff threaten to stop work

Mawkyrwat, Aug 2: After the medical staff including doctors, nurses, and other supporting staff of Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital threatened to go on an indefinite strike from August 5 due to non-payment of salary for three months, sources here informed that the government on Friday released one month salary to all the staff of the hospital.
According to sources, the staff of the hospital including doctors, and nurses has not received their salaries for May, June, and July 2024.
It was said that they have even sent a letter to the Director of Health Services (DHS), Shillong enquiring about the non-payment of the salary, but did not get a satisfactory response.
On Friday, they wrote another letter to the DHS, Shillong with a copy forwarded to the Minister of Health & Family Welfare, and the Medical Superintendent of Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital informing that they have decided to stop the OPD and Emergency Services in the Hospital from August 5 till the salary is released after which the salary for May was released immediately.
The medical staff and other supporting staff of the hospital said that they will meet on Saturday to discuss about the issue and their course of action.
