Bahun crowned Miss Meghalaya; Fortunate Mika Dkhar crowned Miss Teen Meghalaya

The Miss Meghalaya and Miss Teen Meghalaya 2024 pageants showcased the state’s talent and beauty on the evening of August 3rd at the packed Lariti Multipurpose Hall, Mawkasiang.
Miss Bahun Nongrum was crowned Miss Meghalaya 2024, with Miss Chaivalry Lartang and Miss Lily Kharthangmaw as the 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively. Bahun will represent the state at Miss Universe India 2024, while Chaivalry and Lily will represent Meghalaya at Miss Northeast 2024 in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
In the Miss Teen category, Miss Fortunate Mika Dkhar was crowned Miss Teen Meghalaya 2024. Miss Palei Chyne and Miss Nikita Nongrum were named the 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.
Fortunate will represent the state at Miss Teen Diva in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The event was honoured by the presence of Shri Paul Lyngdoh, Minister in charge of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Textiles, as the Chief Guest. Shri Sanbor Shullai, Chairman of the Meghalaya
Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), served as the Guest of Honour, and Shri Federick Roy Kharkongor, Principal Secretary of Arts and Culture, attended as a special guest.
The judging panel included Mr. Amjad Khan, Director of Operations and Marketing for Miss Universe India; Miss Arshina Sumbul, Miss Grand International India 2023; Miss Divija Gambhir, State Director for Miss Universe Rajasthan and Miss India Multinational 2021; and Mele Pucho, State Director for Miss Universe Nagaland.
The winners of Miss Meghalaya 2024 received cash prizes of Rs. 1 lakh for the winner, Rs. 50,000 for the 1st runner-up, and Rs. 25,000 for the 2nd runner-up. The winners of Miss Teen Meghalaya 2024 received cash prizes of Rs. 25,000 for the winner, Rs. 15,000 for the 1st runner-up, and Rs. 10,000 for the 2nd runner-up.
These prizes were handed over by Chief Guest Shri Paul Lyngdoh, Guest of Honour Shri Sanbor Shullai, and Special Guest Shri Federick Roy Kharkongor, IAS.
Chief Minister Shri Conrad K. Sangma had initially consented to be the Chief Guest but had to cancel due to unavoidable circumstances.
The event is supported by Meghalaya Tourism and Department of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya.
Subtitle winners from the Miss Meghalaya category included Jingieit U-Ai Timung for Miss Rampwalk, Dorachiva Daw for Miss Congeniality, Chaivalry Lartang for Best Outfit, Christine Anaiah Nongrum for Miss Beautiful Smile, Ibadonbokshisha Marwein for Miss Personality, Rimika Dkhar for Miss Talented, and Bahun Nongrum for Miss Perfect 10.
In the Miss Teen Meghalaya category, subtitle winners were Nikita Nongrum for Miss Talented, Aranza Yamini Pariat for Miss Congeniality, and Palei Mynsiem Chyne for Miss Popular.
