Nongstoin extend advantage in U-16 Group D

Shillong, Aug 11: Nongstoin District Sports Association extended their lead yesterday in the U-16 category of Pool D in the Meghalaya Youth League 2024, now with a 5-point advantage over the rest of the pack.
In the U-14 category, meanwhile, Nongstoin reduced their margin to leaders Pyndengumiong District Sports Association to 1 point. After four rounds, Nongstoin’s U-16 team have 10 points after beating Mawshynrut Sports Association in a hard-fought contest 4-3. Three teams are now on 5 points each – Mawshynrut (for whom this was their first defeat), Pyndengumiong (who beat Mawkyrwat District Sports Association 4-1) and Tyrsad Area Sports Association (who drew 0-0 with Eastern Border Sports Association). In the U-14 category, it is Pyndengumiong who lead on 10 points after they drew 0-0 with Mawkyrwat yesterday. Nongstoin, meanwhile, defeated Mawshynrut 6-1, while Eastern Border were 4-0 winners against Tyrsad. Other notable results saw West Jaintia District Sports Association extend their winning streak in both age groups to three in Group B, with 2-0 and 4-0 wins against Amlarem Block Sports Association in the U-14s and U-16s respectively. Also in Group B, Laskein Block Sports Association and East Jaintia District Football Association shared honours, with Laskein winning the U-14 match 2-1 and East Jaintia the U-16 contest 2-0.
In Group C, Shillong Sports Association got their first victory by pipping Western Ri-Bhoi Sports Association 1-0 in the U-16 category.
