BSF Meghalaya kicks off women’s sports competition

Shillong, Aug 27: The BSF Meghalaya Frontier proudly announces the commencement of the prestigious Inter-Command Women Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Arm wrestling, Weight lifting and Powerlifting Competition- 2024.
This event is being hosted at the BSF Campus Umpling, Shillong, from August 27 to 28, 2024. The competition has involved the participation of 70 women players from the Eastern Command and 50 women players from the Western Command of the BSF, all eager to showcase their talents, skills, and sportsmanship in the pursuit of the coveted trophy.
The grand opening ceremony was inaugurated by Harbax Singh Dhillon, IG BSF Meghalaya, who was the chief guest. The event was further honored by the presence of senior officials from the BSF establishment. The opening ceremony featured an oath-taking session, followed by an impressive march past by the participating teams. The ceremony also included a captivating performance by the BSF band and a cultural presentation by the troops and students of the BSF School.
In his address, the IG BSF Meghalaya extended his compliments to the participating teams, encouraging them to demonstrate their skill, stamina, and endurance while upholding the true spirit of sportsmanship. He emphasized the importance of sports in the lives of BSF personnel, highlighting how it promotes a healthy lifestyle and fosters a sense of unity. He also commended the BSF for its dedication to various sporting disciplines, which are integral to the organization’s daily operations.
