SHILLONG, Sep 2: The High Court of Meghalaya has disposed of an election petition filed by former Dadenggre MLA, James PK Sangma against incumbent MLA, Rupa Marak and others.
Disposing of the case, the high court said, “On August 7, an application was filed by the petitioner (James PK Sangma), under Section 109 of the Representation of People Act, 1951, for withdrawal of Election Petition No. 7 of 2023, duly supported by an affidavit.”
A notice of withdrawal petition was published in the Gazette of Meghalaya which was placed before the court on Monday.
Since there is no objection from any side, the election petition No. 7 of 2023 is allowed to be withdrawn and is closed and disposed of, the order said. “All pending miscellaneous applications also stand disposed of,” the order added.
