St. Anthony’s College honours student for selection in Femina Miss India 2024

SHILLONG, Sep 2: St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, on Monday felicitated Angelia N. Marwein, a postgraduate student of Political Science of the college, for being selected to represent Meghalaya in the upcoming Femina Miss India 2024 competition.
The programme, which was held on the college campus, was attended by the college faculty, students and special guests.
In his speech, the Principal of St. Anthony’s College commended Marwein’s journey from a dedicated student to a multifaceted professional.
“Angelia has not only excelled academically but has also made significant strides in social work, particularly in advocating for women’s rights and gender equality. We are immensely proud that she will be representing Meghalaya in the prestigious Femina Miss India 2024 competition, and we are confident that she will make our state and our college proud,” the college principal said, highlighting Marwein’s involvement in the Maitshaphrang Movement and her work with EARMACS, which promoted rural development in the Khasi Hills in particular and Meghalaya in general.
Marwein’s modelling career, which includes collaborations with top brands and participation in renowned fashion events such as Delhi Times and Lulu Fashion Week, was also celebrated during the programme.
In her address, Marwein expressed her gratitude to the college for its support throughout her journey.
“St. Anthony’s College has been my alma mater, and the values and experiences I gained here have been instrumental in shaping me into the person I am today. I am honoured to represent Meghalaya and carry the legacy of this institution with me as I compete in the Femina Miss India 2024 pageant,” Marwein said.
It may be mentioned that the winner of Femina Miss India 2024 will represent India at the 73rd edition of the Miss World pageant.
The reigning Miss India, Nandini Gupta of Rajasthan, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the event.
