TURA, Sep 6: Following disturbing, sexually explicit footage of a minor girl shared on social media, a social activist filed an FIR with the South Garo Hills police on Friday.
While the whereabouts of where exactly the incident took place are still unclear, the video showed the girl sexually exploited by a group of boys who also took a video of their inappropriate behavior before uploading it on various social media platforms.
The case was filed under section 77 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
“Bearing in mind the sexually explicit and indecent nature of the contents of the video and considering the imminent, grave, and irreparable harm it is likely to cause to the privacy and reputation of the minor/adolescent if the video is allowed to be circulated further, it is prayed that necessary steps be taken to restrain or block such content,” Social Activist Jaynie N Sangma stated in the FIR.
The activist sought stringent action against the perpetrators and subsequent upload on social media under relevant sections of the BNS, 2023.
