SHILLONG, Sep 9: The state government has directed the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) to discuss their issues and concerns and finalise the proposal for relocation by September-end.
“We are committed to resolve all the necessary concerns and issues before finalising the relocation of 342 families from Them Iew Mawlong,” Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said on Monday.
He reminded that the HPC had sought 15 days’ time from the state government to finalise the issues among themselves.
“We have already held discussions and the Chief Secretary will soon convene a meeting to finalise the relocation,” Dhar said, while clarifying that neither he nor Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong will take part in any future discussion since they have assigned the responsibility to the Chief Secretary.
