Bodies of woman, three children found in well
Lohardaga, Sep 12: The bodies of a 26-year-old woman and her three children were found in a well in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district on Thursday, police said. When residents of Makra village in Kuddu police station area went to their fields in the afternoon, they found the bodies floating in the well and informed the police. Police suspect suicide due to family problems but are further investigating to ascertain the cause of the deaths, he said. (PTI)
Cops strengthen FIR in pregnant elephant killing case
Kolkata, Sep 12: West Bengal Police has included the arms Act in the FIR related to the killing of a pregnant elephant in Jhargram district in August. In a statement on Thursday, PETA India said Jhargram SP informed them that Section 27(1) of the Arms Act, 1959, has been added to the FIR. This section addresses the illegal use of arms and is a non-bailable offence. Two persons arrested in this connection are currently in jail, as their bail pleas have been rejected twice. (PTI)
Woman’s semi-naked body with ruptured head found on NH
Kanpur, Sep 12: A 40-year-old woman’s semi-naked body with partially ruptured head has been found on the Delhi-Varanasi national highway here, police said on Thursday. According to the police, the body was spotted on Wednesday morning by a man, who alerted them and also reported that stray dogs had been nibbling at it. An investigation has been initiated in the matter, they said, adding that based on the circumstances in which the body was found, there is a possibility the victim was raped and murdered before her body was dumped on the highway. Army officers, woman friend attacked while picnicking
Indore, Sep 12: Two men were arrested on Thursday in connection with the attack on two young Army officers and the alleged rape of one of their women friends near a popular tourist spot in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, police said. A manhunt is underway for another four suspects, said a senior official, even as the BJP government in the state came under fire from Opposition Congress over the shocking crime. Superintendent of Police (rural) Hitika Vasal told PTI that six accused were identified and two of them arrested following the incident that took place late Tuesday night near Jam Gate, 30 km from the Mhow military cantonment.
