Over 150 school toppers feted at award ceremony

SHILLONG, Sep 12: More than a thousand students from schools across Shillong, their parents and well-wishes gathered here on Thursday to attend the ‘U Tirot Sing Best Student Award 2024’ ceremony organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Shillong.
The event, which took place at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, witnessed the participation of Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, who was the chief guest, while Kestonbel Manik Syiemlieh, the 5th descendant of U Tirot Sing Syiemlieh, was the special guest.
The highlight of the programme was the felicitation of over 150 school toppers from 2024 SSLC and HSSLC examinations.
These students, representing various institutions across Shillong, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
The event not only celebrated the academic achievements of the students but also honoured the legacy of U Tirot Sing Syiemlieh, a revered freedom fighter from Meghalaya, whose values of bravery, leadership, and service continue to inspire generations.
