Shillong, Sep 15: In a big relief for the state, the stool test samples of the two-and-half-year old child from Tikrikilla, has tested negative for poliomyelitis, said a report from the Institute of Serology, Kolkata.
Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh told The Shillong Times on Sunday the stool samples of both the child and from the community were sent to the institute to detect if it was a case of wild polio or Virus Derived Pollution Vaccine (VDPV) but all the samples turned out to be negative.
She further informed that the final classification of whether it is a case of VDPV or Immunodeficiency-associated VDPV (iVDPV) or Ambiguous VDPV (aVDPV) will be done by the Polio Expert Committee.
According to her, the child is not immuno-compromised and there is no evidence of viral circulation in the community.
