Cultural meet
The Rongmei Phwam Shillong (Rongmei Society Shillong) and the Rongmei Chamnac Phwam Shillong (Rongmei Students Union Shillong) organised a Community Social and Cultural Meet 2024 under the theme ‘Together We Achieve’ at Divine Saviour Parish, Nongthymmai, on Wednesday. The event was graced by Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home department, and Prof (Dr) Elizabeth Gangmei from NERIE, Umiam, as special guests. This annual event brought together the Rongmei Naga community from various walks of life, celebrating the tribe’s rich traditions through traditional attire, dances, ho-hoing, and folk tales. The event welcomed new students arriving in Shillong for higher education and honoured achievers in competitive exams and those with academic excellence. The programme saw over 300 people in attendance, including representatives from other Naga student unions based in Shillong.
