Shillong to host inter-college marathon for wildlife conservation

Shillong, Sep 18: In celebration of National Wildlife Week, Hummingbird Events & Productions is set to organize the first-ever Inter-College Marathon in Shillong on October 5, 2024.
The 7K marathon, themed “Run for the Wild,” aims to raise awareness about wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting India’s rich natural heritage.
National Wildlife Week, observed annually from October 2 to 8, highlights the significance of wildlife preservation in India.
This marathon, a key event during the week, focuses on engaging and educating the youth, encouraging them to take an active role in safeguarding the environment and wildlife for future generations.
Participants in the marathon will receive a T-shirt, breakfast, a certificate, and will also stand a chance to win cash prizes.
The race is divided into two categories for boys and girls, with the first prize being Rs 20,000, the second prize Rs 12,500, and the third prize Rs 7,500.
A registration fee of Rs 500 is required to participate.
