SHILLONG, Sep 21: The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA), representing SSA teachers across the state, has resolved to push for the regularisation of their services. This decision was taken during a general executive committee (GEC) meeting held on Saturday.
Referring to a meeting with the state government on September 19, MSSASA president Aristotle Rymbai said, “We had a three-hour discussion on two key demands: salary enhancement and the regularisation of SSA teachers.”
Commissioner and Secretary in-charge of Education department, Vijay Kumar, had informed the MSSASA delegation during the meeting that the state government is preparing a cabinet memorandum focused on regularising SSA teacher services, rather than merging them with the Education Department.
Informing that the GEC has opted for regularisation over merging with the department, Rymbai said the final decision to opt for regularisation of services will be taken during the general meeting of the association to be held on October 2 at Student’s Field, Jaiaw.
“We appeal to the members of the various units from different blocks and units to attend the proposed meeting so that we can take a final decision on the matter,” the MSSASA president said.
