Community sanitary complex comes up in SWKH village

MAWKYRWAT, Sep 26: As part of the celebration of Swachhata Hi Seva, a Community sanitary complex was inaugurated on Thursday in Nongsynrieh village, 15 km from Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills.
The complex, which was inaugurated by South West Khasi Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner LT Tariang, includes a public toilet and a facility for non-biodegradable waste disposal.
During the inaugural programme, work orders for toilet construction were also handed over to 14 beneficiaries from Nongsynrieh village under the Swachh Bharat Mission by Executive Engineer PHE, Mawkyrwat Division, K Nongbsaw.
Addressing the programme, Nongbsaw informed that the cost of the project was Rs. 3 lakh, out of which Rs. 2.10 lakh was funded from the Swachh Bharat Mission and Rs. 90,000 from the 15th Finance Commission.
According to Nongbsaw, out of 34 villages in the district set to receive these community sanitary complexes, 28 have been completed, with the remaining six expected to be finished in the coming months.
Others who were part of the programme include government officials, village leaders, teachers, students, among others.
