NEIGRIHMS sanitation staff benefit from free health camp

SHILLONG, Sep 26: As a mark of respect for the sanitation staff, NEIGRIHMS on Thursday organised a free health camp titled ‘Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir’ under Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign, which witnessed more than 100 sanitation personnel availing the benefit of routine health check-up.
The camp was conducted very smoothly by the resident doctors, interns, nursing personnel of NEIGRIHMS with the support of sanitary inspectors. NEIGRIHMS Director Prof Nalin Mehta lauded the efforts of the sanitation department and staff for their active participation in keeping the institute clean, safe and healthy. He added that the health of the staff that forms the backbone of NEIGRIHMS’ services is of paramount importance. NEIGRIHMS Medical Superintendent Dr C Daniala admired the efforts of the sanitation staff in following infection control and cleaning protocols to mitigate hospital acquired infections. The event was also attended by NSS volunteers from Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Shillong, who are participating in the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign at NEIGRIHMS.
‘Waste to Art’ competition
Meanwhile, NEIGRIHMS hosted a “Waste to Art” Competition highlighting one of the pillars “Swachhata Mein Jan Bhaagidari” of the ongoing Swachhta Hi Seva 2024 campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday.
NEIGRIHMS staff and their family members of staff showcased their talent through various innovative models made from various hospital and general waste from home. NEIGRIHMS also collaborated with IHM Shillong to make wider impact on spreading the message of waste recycling.
Around 35 volunteers from IHM Shillong also took part in the competition.
NEIGRIHMS Director Prof Nalin Mehta along with institute’s Medical Superintendent Prof C Daniala, and Shemphang Khonglah, lecturer at IHM, appreciated the efforts from various participants in making the event successful. NEIGRIHMS faculties, staff, family members along with faculty and students from IHM attended the programme.
A total of 20 models were displayed by the participants with Heno P and group, Daphishisha Khonglah and group, and Twinklestar Nongbri and group from IHM Shillong winning the first, second and third prize respectively.
