TURA, Sep 27: The residents of Bhangarpar village in West Garo Hills appreciated the district deputy commissioner and assistant deputy commissioner for responding to a complaint filed by them against the sub-standard work on MGNREGS project in the village.
It was informed that the prompt move of Deputy Commissioner Jagadish Chelani reportedly led to the resignation of the VEC president concerned, over fear of being exposed.
The residents also informed that a site inspection by Assistant Commissioner Chaitanya Awasthi confirmed that the work was sub-standard and not in line with the required specifications.
Pointing out that the current VEC members have been functioning in their posts for six years, contrary to the guidelines stating that elections are to be conducted every three years, the residents urged the deputy commissioner to look into the matter.
