New Garo body to promote culture

TURA, Sep 29: The Garo Omniscience for Ethnic Revival and Awakening (GOERA) was formed recently with its headquarters in Tura, to promote and preserve the Garo culture, traditions and identity.
The new body elected Thomas M Marak as president, Sansar T Sangma as vice president, Francewell R Marak as general secretary, Rikrak Ch Marak as chief organising secretary, Tangsime D Sangma as chief organising secretary of Women’s Wing and Greneth M Sangma as RTI secretary.
The new body currently has several units extended throughout Garo Hills including at Nongalbibra, Rongara, Baghmara, Babadam, Tikrikkila, Selsela, Dadenggre, Rajabala, Rongmil, and Dajegre.
