PM lays base for EMRS in SWGH’s Jelbongpara

Tura, Oct 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally laid the foundation stone forconstruction of Eklavya ModelResidential School at Jelbongpara village under Betasing C&RD Blockin South West Garo Hills district on Wednesday afternoon.

As part of the Central Government’s initiative to boost educational infrastructure for the tribal communities, the Prime Minister inaugurated 40 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRIs) and laid the foundation stone for 25 EMRIs worth over Rs. 2,800 crore from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand,Jelbongparabeing one of them.

The virtual foundation stone laying ceremony was attended through video conferencing at DRDA conference hall, Ampati, by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Dr. Rezina Ch. Marak, Dr. W.C.R. Marak, BDO Betasing, CRN Sangma, BDO Zikzak, D. Hajong, BDO, Purakhasia A. K. Marak, Nokma of Jelbongpara, Donald Ch Sangma, officials of Education department, other district officials and students.

Project Coordinator for EMRS Meghalaya, Sarjit Ch of MANIDCO Ltd and Contractor for EMS Jelbongpara, Samson Thoho were among others who were also present on the occasion.
